Wood statuette, 'Bearer of the Water of Life'
Barefoot, an elderly man kneels to pour water from a traditional water jar. Nkwah Nsu Wura means "Bearer of the Water of Life." Hand-carved from seasoned sese wood and finished in dark tan mansion polish, the venerable figure radiates serenity and dignity. Madam Adwoa and artisans from her Onyame Akwan Dooso workshop masterfully demonstrate West African art and craft forms that have been carried on by generation after generation.
